An eAccess Institutional Subscription is an annual service that provides Institutions with an online portal that allows learners and employees to access AHA eBooks with very little administrative effort. Institutions can subscribe to specific content and service levels scale to meet training needs.
An eBook is an electronic version of a book. American Heart Association (AHA) eBooks allow users to read publications on any screen with a browser. AHA eBooks have the look of print books, with all the layout, figures, and images intact. Users can change the font and font size for close study. Users can read books online or download them to the AHA eBook Reader app on mobile devices for offline reading.
In addition to reading and downloading, you can:
Search: AHA eBooks are searchable. You can search within a book or across your eBook library.
Customize: You can highlight text on the screen; bookmark pages; or add notes throughout the eBook.
Easy Navigation: In addition to accessing books from your library, your notes, bookmarks, and highlights become part of your dashboard and quick links.
No. AHA eBooks and their pages cannot be printed.
When you access an eBook, you are obtaining the right to read the content online as well as download it to your own device to be accessed offline through the duration of an active subscription. These rights are subject to technology conditions and limitations as well as contractual agreements between the AHA and its vendors.
Individual AHA eBooks are updated if/when errors occur, science changes or other updates are needed.
How-to Guide
Bookmarks can be made by clicking on the Bookmark ribbon in the upper right-hand corner of the eBook you are reading.
Follow the instructions below to access eBooks on an iPad:
- Download and install the AHA eBook Reader iOS app from the App Store. The link is https://apps.apple.com/app/id734453806.
- If the access for the institution is given based on IP range or Referral URL, open https://eaccess.heart.org site using the default browser on your iPad.
- If the access is given based on Common Username Credentials, open https://eaccess.heart.org site and log in with the same credentials provided for the institution.
- Go to the Library Page and choose the book you wish to download.
- Click on the Download button.
- Click on the Download ePub option.
- You will be redirected to the download page.
- Click on the Green Arrow button.
- Once the file is downloaded, open it with the AHA eBook Reader app to read.
Follow the instructions below to access eBooks on an Android tablet:
- Download and install the AHA eBook Reader Android app from the Google Play Store. The link is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.impelsys.aha.android.ebookstore&hl=en.
- If the access for the institution is given based on IP range or Referral URL, open https://eaccess.heart.org site using the default browser on your tab.
- If the access is given based on Common Username credentials, open https://eaccess.heart.org site and log in with the same credentials provided for the institution.
- Go to the Library Page and choose the book you wish to download.
- Click on the Download button.
- Click on the Download ePub option.
- You will be redirected to the download page.
- Click on the Green Arrow button.
- Once the file is downloaded, open it with the AHA eBook Reader app to read.
Follow the instructions below to access eBooks on an Android tablet:
- Open the eBooks site ebooks.heart.org on any modern browser (Older versions of Internet Explorer would not work as designed).
- If the access for the institution is given based on IP range or Referral URL, open the https://eaccess.heart.org site using the browser on your PC/Mac.
- If the access is given based on Common Username Credentials, open the https://eaccess.heart.org site and log in with the same credentials provided for the institution.
- Once you are successfully logged in, you will be redirected to your Library (bookshelf) page.
- You will see your subscribed eBooks with Online Reading Options.
- Click on Read to read the eBook online.
Personalization
- Long press and hold over the text you would like to select.
- Drag over the text you want to select.
- Choose the Highlight/Notes option.
- Select the color/underline or notes option.
- Place the Cursor at the beginning of the text you would like to select.
- Hold down the "left mouse button" and move the mouse (drag) over the text you want to select.
- Release the mouse button and choose the highlight color of your choice.
- If you wish to make an annotation, click on Notes and a Pop-Up Box will appear where you can type in the required text.
